Alaska Airlines, Boeing, and The Port of Seattle are proud to again host their annual Aviation Day in Seattle on Saturday, June 7, 2025, 8 AM - 4 PM for youth 11 to 18 years old. This free event aims to inspire aviation dreams in youth in our local communities. Aviation Day provides the opportunity for young adults to learn about the various paths in the aviation industry as well as educational paths to a career. Girl Scouts will also get exclusive early access to the flight simulators from 8-9 AM. You do not need to register separately for this; it is included for members of Girl Scouts.
PLEASE READ THE DETAILS BELOW BEFORE YOU START YOUR REGISTRATION.
When registering on the Alaska Airlines Aviation Day site, when prompted with "What organization is your group with?", please enter Girl Scouts of Western Washington. GSWW will be collaborating with Alaska Airlines to track registration, and if you do not enter this you may not be counted as part of our organization and may not get early simulator access.
The adult leader of the troop or group, or parent/guardian if attending without a group, must register the entire group (adults and youth) at one time.
Alaska offers several activities, such as the Network Operations Center tour, that require you to register for a specific time due to the nature of the experience. You can sign up for these during the registration process. Browse sessions here. Spaces are limited and first-come, first-served. You DO NOT need to sign up for a session in the simulators, as that is included for Girl Scouts first thing in the morning. Other sessions, however, do require separate registration if you wish to participate. If a session you are interested in is full, you may still be able to get in day-of. The most popular sessions will have standby lanes, and Alaska has informed us that these are usually successful at getting folks in. So, come to the location of the session on the day of the event and wait in the standby lane for another chance to get into the session(s) of your choice.
If you have a Fly Like a Girl Scout shirt, please wear it to the event! We are still determining whether we will be able to offer these to participants at check-in this year and will update this listing (and confirmation closer to the event) accordingly.
Cost: FREE for all Girl Scouts ages 11 to 18.
Drop Off: This is not a drop-off event, so youth need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If attending with your troop, there must be a correct ratio of youth to adults (even if Alaska requests a different ratio). All adults must also register for the event. Ratio information can be found on pages 5-6 of the Safety Activity Checkpoints. Reminder: The adult leader of the troop or group, or parent/guardian if attending without a group, must register the entire group (adults and youth) at one time.
Prerequisite: Girl Scouts MUST be at least 11 years old. Adult ratios are required unless attending as a parent/guardian-youth pair.
Registration Deadline: 5/30/2025
(please note that this is a third-party event, space is limited, and registration may actually close prior to this date)
