My project, ECO, set out to shed light on the often overlooked issue of the digital carbon footprint—how our online activities contribute to climate change—and to equip individuals with practical strategies to reduce their tech-related environmental impact. Through a TEDx talk, an educational curriculum, and the ECO app, I aimed to inspire young people to take action by showing them that even small, everyday digital choices can make a meaningful difference for the planet.
Advice to Future Gold Award Girl Scouts: Don’t be afraid to dream big! At first, your project might feel overwhelming, but remember that every impactful initiative starts with a single idea—and with thoughtful planning, persistence, and a strong support system, you’re capable of more than you might imagine. Don’t shy away from ambitious goals; instead, use them as motivation to push beyond your comfort zone. This is a chance to create real, lasting impact in your community and beyond. Aim high, trust your vision, and believe in what you can achieve!
