Our Program

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a collection of engaging, challenging, and fun activities that help Girl Scouts prepare for a lifetime of leadership, success, and adventure. Our program is one-of-a-kind – it’s based on researched-backed programming and it has proven results. Everything a Girl Scout does centers around four pillars: entrepreneurship, life skills, STEM, and outdoors. The program grows as Girl Scouts age, ensuring they are building upon their knowledge and advancing in their pursued interests.

More About Girl Scouts

Ways to Participate
Participation in Girl Scouts is flexible. You can...
Join a troop
  • Girl Scouts in a troop experience the fun of Girl Scouts together! They earn badges as they learn all kinds of fun things, go on field trips, explore the outdoors, create inventions, plant gardens, and so much more. Start the join process to find a troop near you.
Become a Juliette Girl Scout (Individually Registered Member)
  • Meeting in troops is one way to be part of the Girl Scout experience, but when being in a troop is not the best option, becoming a Juliette will allow participation in the Girl Scout experience on an individual basis. Learn more about what it means to be a Juliette.
Grade Levels
Girl Scouts are assigned a grade level based on where they are in their K-12 education.

Some troops include Girl Scouts who are all the same grade level, others have a combination of multiple (or all!) grade levels. The Girl Scout program has tons of fun stuff to do, no matter the age range.

  • Daisies – Grades K-1
  • Brownies – Grades 2-3
  • Juniors – Grades 4-5
  • Cadettes – Grades 6-8
  • Seniors – Grades 9-10
  • Ambassadors – Grades 11-12
Badges & Journeys
Girl Scout badges are a great way for Girl Scouts to explore their interests and learn new skills.

Physical badges are proof of completion of a tough program and they show the world what she’s accomplished. Check out our award and badge explorer.

Journeys give Girl Scouts a guide for completing Take Action projects: giving them the space to learn new things and make a difference. Girl Scouts may complete Journeys as part of their troop or through a multi-day event where we connect a group of Girl Scouts and help them complete the Journey.
Camp & Outdoors

Here in western Washington, we have three council-run overnight summer camps, tons of summer day camp options, 43 community-run summer camps, and lots of opportunities to camp throughout the year at our eight council-operated properties! Campers can participate whether or not they are members of a troop, as long as they have an active Girl Scout membership.

Travel
Girl Scouts plan, budget for, and participate in amazing trips every year.

Whether they are exploring their own city, going on an overnight camping trip, or flying across the world, Girl Scouts gives them space to safely expand their horizons.

Many Girl Scouts travel with their troop, but older Girl Scouts can participate in Girl Scout Destinations organized by Girl Scouts of the United States of America. Here in western Washington, we also have several volunteer-led trips open to Girl Scouts in our council.

Events & Activities

With hundreds of events every year in STEM, outdoors, leadership, sports, entrepreneurship, service projects, and more, Girl Scouts never run out of fun things to participate in! The best part? Your Girl Scout doesn’t have to be in a troop to participate! All that’s required is an active Girl Scout membership. A Girl Scout membership costs $25 and financial assistance is available.

Cookies

Girl Scout Cookies are the fuel that makes Girl Scout dreams come to life.

All Girl Scouts start with a goal in mind – whether that goal is an unforgettable trip to an exciting new place, a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) project that will change the way they look at the world, or an opportunity to attend Girl Scout camp and make a lifetime of memories – Girl Scouts calculate how many boxes they need to sell to make it happen. Running their very own cookie business helps Girl Scouts develop lifelong skills:

  • Goal Setting
  • Decision Making
  • Money Management
  • People Skills
  • Business Ethics

Highest Awards

Girl Scouts go above and beyond to make a difference in their communities and the world.

We recognize these incredible initiatives through three awards: the Bronze Award, the Silver Award, and the Gold Award. All three awards give Girl Scouts the support to do big things while supporting issues they care about.

What's New
The best part of Girl Scouts is that we are always adding new programming!

This year, we’ve added new Journeys and badges in outdoor adventure, cybersecurity, space science, and coding.
