My Gold Award project tackled the gaps in dysautonomia awareness and support. I focused on educating the next generation of healthcare providers, particularly medical and nursing assistants, about POTS—its science, diagnosis, symptoms, and treatments—reaching 122 students. I also created pamphlets for caregivers and newly diagnosed patients, providing information, resources, and advice to help them navigate their POTS journey. Finally, by openly sharing my journey within the dysautonomia community, I aimed to reduce the isolation often felt by newly diagnosed patients.
Advice to Future Gold Award Girl Scouts: It’ll take a lot of time and a lot of revision, but as long as you stick with it, it is so worth it!
Quote That Personifies Your Girl Scout Experience: My Girl Scout experience taught me that with courage, compassion, and collaboration, even one voice can illuminate the path toward understanding and support for others.
