My Gold Award project addressed the root cause of my issue by creating opportunities for young girls* to involve themselves in STEM. I created the Astronomy Club at my high school, which attracted attention from many women. I was able to showcase some of my STEM interests through this club, and I inspired many members to pursue STEM. I also held a star party for upper elementary and middle school students. I was able to share one of my favorite STEM topics with young girls* and watch them light up as they learned more and more. I was able to inspire the next generation of women in STEM by being an example of a successful female high school STEM student. I held another star party that was only girls* during the summer. We spent a few hours under the night sky, and feedback revealed that they learned a lot.
Advice to Future Gold Award Girl Scouts: It is a very long process with lots of barriers, and perseverance is key to success.
Quote That Personifies Your Girl Scout Experience: Filled with many fun memories and friendships that I wouldn't trade for the world.
