For my Gold Award project, I created an art club consisting of 21 students focused on teaching positive coping mechanisms through art. Each week of my comprehensive eight-week course, my team and I introduced two coping strategies to help students better understand their emotions and how to manage them effectively. We incorporated various artistic activities that encouraged self-expression while facilitating discussions about social emotional health.
Advice to Future Gold Award Girl Scouts: Stick with it! There will always be challenges and obstacles that arise, whether in your personal life or within your Girl Scout experiences. It’s important to remember that perseverance is key; if you continue to push through and remain determined, things will eventually fall into place. Trust the process and have faith that with time and effort, solutions will emerge, and you will find your way.
