One in seven Americans will need a blood transfusion at some time in their lives however, only one in ten donate blood. To maintain a viable blood bank, Bloodworks Northwest, our program partner, requires 1,000 donors every day!
This patch program is designed for all age levels. You can
make a difference by sharing what you learn!
In a partnership with Bloodworks Northwest, through this patch
program curriculum, you will learn about blood types, blood
components, the science of blood and blood donation, the history of
blood donation, and what our local needs for blood donation are in the
Pacific Northwest.
Included in each of the five elements, there
are fun activities, even some you can eat, that will help you better
understand how important blood donation is to our community and for
many of us, family members.
This is a self-led patch
program that can be done with your family or troop--in person (when
COVID-19 guidelines allow) or on the virtual platform of your
choice!
Note: This is the same curriculum as the
previous Blood: The Gift of Life Patch Program.
