At Girl Scouts of Western Washington, we want our members to be heard! Share your voice locally or nationally as a teen or adult delegate!
Girl Scouts of Western Washington Delegates elect our Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting.
Delegate elections are held each year as part of a service unit meeting. A lead delegate may be elected at this time as well if there is not one currently in place. Nominations for lead delegate and delegate are made from the members in attendance at the meeting or who have voiced interest prior. Additionally, each service unit may elect a youth member who is at least 14 years old and is a registered Girl Scout. Substitute delegates may also be selected so that, should an elected delegate be unable to attend, there will be representation at the Annual Meeting.
Members who attend the service unit leader meeting where elections are held will be asked to sign in and participate in the election. The only requirement to participate in the election is to be a registered Girl Scout member at the time of the election.
All listed service units are either holding in-person, hybrid, or virtual meetings. Please connect with your local Service Unit Manager, Lead Delegate, or Volunteer Support Manager to get any further details regarding your service unit election.
Every three years Girl Scouts of the USA holds a National Council Session (often referred to as convention) that brings together Girl Scouts from across the US and territories to discuss, debate, and vote on issues important to the Girl Scout Movement and to elect national leaders for the next triennium. Girl Scouts of Western Washington elects delegates from the membership body to represent our council at this national council session. Our council is committed to ensuring youth voices are represented at the National Council Session and by tradition approximately half of our delegation is comprised of youth members. Girl Scouts who will be 14 years of age and adult delegates who are at least 21 years of age by February 8, 2024 (the date of election at our Annual Meeting) are welcome to apply.
This is a competitive application process and we will be choosing delegates to represent our council who have not yet had the opportunity to attend an in-person convention.
National Council Session Information:
To be considered for this delegate position please complete an application no later than 12:00 PM (midnight) on October 6, 2024. Applications will be reviewed by the Nominating and Governance Committee of Girl Scouts of Western Washington's Board of Directors.
