Women of Distinction
Sharon has worked more than 20 years in nonprofit organizations as a community advocate for students and parents, developing outreach and vocational programs. In 2002, her family relocated from the south to Tacoma, where she works at the University of Puget Sound as Director of the Office of Graduate and Undergraduate Fellowships and Scholarships.
Her work sought to inspire girls to be the best they can be and to embrace challenges together or individually. She served as co-leader for 5 years of a Girl Scout troop in Gig Harbor, and enjoyed working with the girls on social skills, teaching them to cook and bake and participating in Girls Scout events. Sharon enjoyed taking her girls to Camp Klahanee, where the lodge overlooks the pond and welcomes campers with a large stone fireplace. The girls always wanted to sleep in the loft overlooking the big room. Fun times were had running through the meadow and camping in tents, making s’mores, playing games, and telling stories.
Carolyn is the President & CEO of Lindquist Dental Clinic for Children (LDCC), a private not-for-profit dental clinic whose mission is to provide accessible, compassionate and effective dental care to South Sound children in need. Under her leadership, LDCC has grown from a small 5 chair dental clinic serving approximately 2,000 patient visits to now having 4 clinic locations and a Dental Outreach program. LDCC is now poised to provide up to 45,000 patient visits and approximately 4,500 children served through their Dental Outreach program annually.
Carolyn was responsible for the direction and leadership of taking what was the Sexual Assault Intervention Program at Mary Bridge Children’s hospital and developing an entire department, the Child Abuse Intervention Department. She also spearheaded the development of and was the Director of the Pierce County Children’s Advocacy Center.
She is a founding and current Board member of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Washington, and was the 2007 Rotarian of the year Rotary Club of Tacoma #8, and was awarded the Stan Naccarato Community Service Award, Women of Influence Award and Pierce County’s Community Development Award.
Dori is Executive Director of the Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation and came to MultiCare in 2012. Prior to her foundation work, she spent 16 years working for World Vision – much of which was as the Vice President of Communications. Her responsibilities included media relations, magazine development, donor education and advocacy on issues such as education and equality for young girls and helping to bring attention and education to eradicate the practice of circumcising girls and young women. She then worked 12 years as the Director of Advancement for Charles Wright Academy, where she was responsible for enrollment and fundraising activities.
Dori was a Girl Scout through Cadettes, and has many fond memories as a result of her experience. Her mother was a troop leader and both her sisters were also Girl Scouts, making the Girl Scout mission a family affair!
