Blood: The Gift of Life Patch Program

One in seven Americans will need a blood transfusion at some time in their lives however, only one in ten donate blood. To maintain a viable blood bank, Bloodworks Northwest, our program partner, requires 1000 donors every day. This patch program is designed for all age levels. You can make difference by sharing what you learn.

Gems and Geology (Juniors) - Live Virtual Event

Discover the magic of rocks, minerals, and wonders of geology in this fun hands-on class for Girl Scouts! We’ll dig into earth science concepts, explore natural resources, and interact with exciting geologic specimens that are yours to keep! Material kit includes a variety of rocks and minerals, identification card, geology patch, and a colorful agate slab that will be inspiration for an art project. Pairs well with Outdoor Art Explorer badge.

Virtual Robotics with Dash's Neighborhood - Live Virtual Event

Learn the fundamentals of coding and programming using the 3D Virtual Simulator Dash's Neighborhood and earn your Coding 1 and Robotics 1 badges!

This ESSK V-Class Program was developed by camp professionals with over 50 years of educational experience who have created an engaging virtual environment peppered with fun special events and activities. ESSK V-Class is filled with experiential, hands-on learning, collaboration, excitement, and cutting-edge topics in Robotics fostering 21st-century skills. Children will work in Dash's Neighborhood, a 3D virtual environment where they will create code to complete various challenges. They will have opportunities to share their code and build confidence. Each instructor has the ability to monitor each child's progress and differentiate the instruction based on the needs of all the children in the session. This allows for individualized learning. Using the virtual simulator allows for tech equity and amazing learning for all children.

Cost: $15 per Girl Scout

STEM Education Conference with Tacoma Public Utilities - Live Virtual Event

Tacoma Public Utilities is collaborating with Girl Scouts of Western Washington for a STEM education conference. This program will be an opportunity to learn about career fields, hear from professionals, and participate in STEM based workshops. This will be an opportunity to learn about how Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are used to provide essential services to our immediate community.

Scouts will learn about where their power and drinking water come from, how they can be responsible stewards of their environment, and ultimately how they can be involved with their local utility both now and in their futures. For over 125 years Tacoma Public Utilities has been providing our community with essential services. We are committed to ensuring that our future leaders continue power this community forward. The conference will feature several thoughtful leaders including the Mayor of Tacoma, Victoria Woodards; and Director of the Public Utilities, Jackie Flowers.

Live Online Junior Agent of Change 2-Day Journey Workshop

A live online workshop is a way for Girl Scouts to connect and complete a journey or badge online with full tech support start to finish! Each Girl Scout, seated at their own computer in their own home, connects securely and privately online with other Scouts for experiential activities and collaboration that we facilitate! They will also log onto our computers in order to use our software to complete their projects! Since these computers they are utilizing (remotely) are in front of us at our offices, we are able to provide step-by-step instruction and assistance for Girl Scouts of any level!

Explore Pharmacy and Medication Safety - Live Virtual Event

Learn about our local wildlife and the habitats they call home through engaging activities in this live workshop led by PAWS Educators! Learn about the PAWS Wildlife Hospital, explore some endangered habitats, and dive into what you can do to protect wildlife and their habitats in your community.

This event is ONLY open to individual Girl Scouts or groups with four or fewer girls wanting to participate. Troops with five or more Girl Scouts MUST schedule a private program at https://calendly.com/paws-scouts.

Registration includes one PAWS Fun Patch per Scout. The PAWS Fun Patch will be mailed to you at no additional cost upon completion of the program. The Junior Animal Habitats badge may be purchased from the Girl Scouts store.
