From a global pandemic to racial inequity, 2020 starkly illuminated the importance of capable and compassionate leaders. With a gift to Girl Scouts, you can provide formative experiences, resources, and mentors that help local youth fulfill their potential.
The Girl Scout who needs you now will be the leader we all need tomorrow.
Local Girl Scout Kylee discovered her passion for disaster relief work after the Oso Landslide in 2014. On our Global Action Team, she helped younger Girl Scouts learn to positively impact local and global communities. This year we got to congratulate Kylee on being selected for the FEMA Region 10 (AK, OR, ID, WA) Youth Preparedness Council! Programs like the Zombie Survival Challenge and The Science of Disaster offer ways for others to follow Kylee’s amazing example.
At this year’s GeekGirlCon, several of our local youth members served on the digital panel “GeekGirlScouts Discuss LGBTQ+.” Gold Award Girl Scout Samantha moderated the panel, drawing on her experience from interviewing LGBTQ+ community adults with real questions from LGBTQ+ youth for her original online resource, HelpMeSeeMyself.com. Media representation and community support make a big impact on LGBTQ+ individuals of all ages. Thank you, GeekGirlCon, for giving our Girl Scouts the platform to share their experiences, opinions, and advice.
