Camp FAQ

How do I know if my camper is ready for camp? Where do I find packing lists and general information about camp? Will my camper be with her buddies she signed up with?

As you prepare your girl (and yourself!) for camp many questions can come up! That's why we've created a comprehensive guide to all questions regarding camp.

Does my girl need to be a Girl Scout?

Our camps are for all girls—you don’t need any previous Girl Scout experience to sign up! However, to complete the registration process, all campers do need to become Girl Scout members.

Membership costs $25 and comes with lots of perks, including the opportunity to take part in Girl Scout experiences and events throughout the year! On average, when girls participate in Girl Scouts they get:

  • 8 new friends
  • 100 hours of adventure and discovery
  • 2,000 confidence-building minutes
  • 360,000 seconds of fun and feeling great about herself!

And, as always, financial assistance is available to help cover the cost of both the camp session and the Girl Scout membership fee if needed.

Rates & Financial Assistance

We believe that every girl, regardless of financial circumstances, should have the opportunity to experience camp. While the costs to maintain camp properties and produce camp programming continue to rise, families have differing abilities to meet those costs. Learn more about rates, tiered pricing, and financial assistance:

To keep camp affordable for all families, we've adopted a voluntary tiered pricing structure. Tiered pricing gives each family the opportunity to choose the pricing option that works best for them. All campers will have the same experience regardless of which price the family can afford.

The tiered pricing breakdown:

Tier A: The actual cost for each girl to attend camp, including costs like program supplies, staffing, food and maintenance costs.

Tier B: The partially subsidized cost of camp, for families that can pay a little more than our traditional fees, but not the actual cost of camp.

Tier C: Our traditional, standard camp fees, which are much lower than the true cost of camp. These rates are subsidized through fundraising, special events and the hard work of Girl Scouts during the Girl Scout Cookie Sale.

Each camp program has pricing for all three tiers. Check out the camp programs available this summer, and choose the tier that is best for you and your family.

Financial Assistance

Girl Scout Camp is open to all girls in every community and geographic area. Financial assistance is available to currently registered girl and adult members who otherwise would not be able to participate in Girl Scouting.

Our qualification guidelines are the same as the federal school lunch program. If your family qualifies for free or reduced price school lunch, your family will qualify for financial assistance from Girl Scouts of Western Washington.
