What is Program Quality?
Youth Program Quality Initiative
Girl Scouts of Western Washington is committed to maximizing our positive impact on girls. Research has shown that taking certain actions—like creating safe spaces and encouraging girl leadership—boosts girls' engagement and helps girls get more out of Girl Scouting. That's what program quality is all about!
To help our staff and volunteers continually improve the quality of our programs, we are engaged in the Youth Program Quality (YPQ) initiative with the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality and School’s Out Washington. This initiative ensures all girls consistently receive high-quality experiences in Girl Scouts.
Our Program Quality Standards
We are proud to have adopted the Washington State Quality Standards for Afterschool and Youth Development Programs. These Nine Standards were first published by School's Out Washington and address key areas of quality for youth development organizations. Adoption of the Standards is entirely voluntary.
