Meet Girl Scouts
- Do an activity with another troop in your area
- Visit a regional office and meet the staff members there. Who are they and what do they do? How can they help you?
- Attend a Girl Scout event Go to one of our camps that you’ve never been to before. Take your pick of Klahanee, Robbinswold, St. Albans, River Ranch, Evergreen or Lyle McLeod. You could attend a session of resident or day camp, go camping with your troop, do a service project, or attend an event there.
- Check out our website: www.girlscoutsww.org. Find something to do in the calendar, explore the “For Girls” or “For Teens” sections, or read about what other Girl Scouts in GSWW are doing.
- Create a map of GSWW! Be sure to include our camps, our regional offices, the DuPont Girl Scout Center, the Seattle Administrative Office, where you live, and anything else you think is cool.
Meet the Place
- Learn about and/or visit a major geographical landmark in GSWW. Need ideas? How about the Hoh Rainforest, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, Willapa Bay, the San Juan Islands, Grays Harbor, Mt. Baker, the Columbia River, the Olympic Mountains...
- Take care of your home! Plan and carry out a service project that helps the environment where you live.
- Get to know some of your area’s native plants and animals. What are their names? How can you identify them? Where do they live? What kinds of habitat do they need?
- Be prepared! What kinds of natural disasters or emergencies could happen where you live? Make a plan with your family for what to do in an emergency, and prepare an emergency kit for your home, school, work or car.
- Learn about and/or visit a major cultural landmark in GSWW. Check out the State Capitol, Peace Arch, the Space Needle, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, museums, cultural heritage centers or local sports teams.
- What major businesses are there where you live? Talk to some adults in your community and find out what their jobs are like.
Meet the People
- Learn something new about your community! Identify another community in GSWW that shares something in common with yours.
- Find out what your community was like 50 years ago. Talk to someone who lived in your community then, if you can. Draw a picture, write a story, or create a song or a skit that describes what you think your community will be like 50 years in the future.
- The whole world is represented in GSWW! Learn about a culture different than your own. Attend a cultural festival, learn some phrases in another language, and/or find out some ways that that culture is similar to your own.
- Who are your elected officials? Find out who some of your representatives are in local, state, and national government. Contact them to express your opinion on something that matters to you.
