Patch: Juliette Low

Purpose: To learn more about Juliette Low, the founder of Girl Scouting.

Patch: Brownie Girl Scouts do three activities, plus the two starred*; Junior Girl Scouts do four activities, plus the two starred*; Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts do five activities, plus the two starred*. You may do these activities individually or with your troop.

  1. ***Read about Juliette Low in your Girl Scout handbook or another book.
  2. ***After reading about Juliette Low make up your own quiz and answer sheet about what you have learned. Give the quiz to girls in your troop or other Girl Scouts.
  3. Plan and serve a tea party for another troop, your troop, your sister's troop or parents - use a Juliette Low theme.
  4. Juliette Low always had pets. Find out what kind of pets she had. Find a place in your community that cares for or about pets. Read about pet care, visit a veterinary clinic or learn about pet therapy.
  5. Juliette Low helped the less fortunate. Plan and carry out a service project you think she would suggest if she were a leader today.
  6. Research information on the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund. Plan a project and donate to the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund.
  7. Create a craft appropriate to the time of Juliette Low…possibly a craft her troop might have done.
  8. Write a paragraph, poem or a play about the story of Juliette Low. Perform this activity for another troop, parents or friends.
  9. Celebrate Girl Scouts' special days and find out about why they are important: October 31, February 22, and March 12.
  10. Juliette Low was hearing impaired. Find out about other famous people who were hearing impaired. Do an activity that helps you understand what life would be like with a hearing impairment. (Watch TV or a video with the volume turned low, practice lip reading, etc.)
  11. Have a Girl Scouts' Own with the theme of Juliette Low.
  12. Do your own activity appropriate to this patch.
