Come back to camp to play and practice those skills learned in any Canoe Our Waters session. No formal instruction is included, however stroke review assistance and games are available from our Canoe Our Waters certified staff upon request. Instructors will also complete skill checklists upon request.
Girls are encouraged to attend these practice sessions. A bead is awarded to represent ripples on the water under the canoe patch for each practice session attended. Come enjoy an afternoon on the water!
Canoe Our Waters is a six-part progression program that will help you master the art of paddling a canoe. You will progress from the basics in Session 1 to a canoe camping trip on a mountain lake in Session 6. You may attend this program as an individual or with your troop. Adult supervision is provided by certified canoe instructors. Adults may participate, if space is available. Open Practice is recommended between sessions for skill building.
Juniors participate in three sessions, including Sessions 1, 2 and Open Practice after school and on weekends. Cadettes may attend Sessions 3-6, which offer adventures and continued skill development.
Custom sessions for early release school days or encampments are available by request eight weeks in advance by contacting Denise Mahnke, Camp Program Manager, at 425/333-5258 or denisecm@girlscoutsww.org.
