Ashdon Farms Cashew Recall

Members of Girl Scouts conduct a small-scale fundraiser in southwest Washington each fall offering nuts and candy products from Ashdon Farms. The sale takes place in Pierce, Lewis, Thurston, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Wahkiakum, and Pacific counties.

Ashdon Farms has notified us of a recall of their 10 oz. containers of cashews after a few cans were found to contain small pieces of loose metal. There have been no injuries or illnesses related to the recall, but in the interest of public safety, and while the FDA approval process for a recall is still ongoing, Girl Scouts of Western Washington wants to ensure that customers who received these cashews are aware of this recall as soon as possible.

Ashdon Farms has been a licensed vendor of Girl Scouts of the USA for more than 10 years and has provided us with products of high quality without incident. They are continuing to investigate this isolated situation, and assure us of the rarity of this occurrence, and their stringent safety practices for nut processing. Ashdon Farms has set up a toll-free number that customers who purchased a container of 10 oz. cashews included in the recall can call for a refund or replacement.

ASHDON FARMS NOTICE:

Ashdon Farms is recalling 10 oz. Girl Scout Cashews (item GS-018) packed in pop-top cans. Recalled product may be identified by the code date 7268A9 or 7268B9 on the second line of the code printed on the bottom of the can. Only 10 oz. cashews with the above code date are affected by the recall.

Ashdon Farms has received a small number of complaints regarding pieces of metal in the product. There have been no reports of injury from this product. The company is still investigating to determine the cause of the problem.
