It's a big day for Girl Scouts everywhere!
On October 7, 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama will formally accept the role of Honorary National President for Girl Scouts of the USA. Kathy Cloninger, CEO for Girl Scouts of the USA, and Connie Lindsey, national president for Girl Scouts of the USA, will meet with the First Lady to discuss their shared agenda around healthy living, service and leadership, and will also discuss future opportunities to collaborate on the Girl Scouts' 100th anniversary and other events.
Following the event, Girl Scouts from the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital will participate in the White House “Star Party.” The event is a celebration of the International Year of Astronomy, where President Obama and the First Lady will be joined by children to emphasize the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
