Independent Learning
Independent learning options allow participants to receive course materials through the mail and work through the coursework independently, at their convenience. Although a group setting is usually recommended, independent learning options are available for several courses:
Outdoor 1
This course is offered via both independent learning and in a group setting. (Check the calendar to find group setting courses in your area.) The Independent Learning Packet will come by mail and takes more than three hours to complete. Choose from two options:
- Outdoor 1 Independent Learning Packet - $10.00
Choose this option if you already have access to the book, Outdoor Education in Girl Scouting. Material will come to you by mail.- Outdoor 1 Independent Learning Packet Plus - $25.00
Choose this option if you need Outdoor Education in Girl Scouting. The additional fee covers purchase and mailing fees. Material will come to you by mail.

Indoor Overnight - $10.00
Ease into the idea of camping by planning an overnight in an indoor setting, a leader’s living room, a hotel or other situation that does not involve an outdoor setting. If your troop will not be ready for a few more years for an outdoor setting, this is a great first step. Taken by independent learning packet, which will come to you by mail. Pre-requisite: Outdoor 1

First Aid/CPR/AED, Blended Learning - $45.00
Take this class to become the First Aider for your troop activities. This course combines web-based learning and an instructor-led skills session.
The first portion is completed online. It is designed to be flexible and self-paced. This allows students to learn, review and be assessed on the information before proceeding to the skills application. You will receive the online account information by e-mail with further instructions approximately 14 days prior to your skills session. You will need to allocate about four hours of your time to complete the online portion.
The skills session is led by an instructor and done in a classroom. You must bring a copy of the online test to the skills session to complete the course.
*Please note: The online portion does not work with Unix-based operating systems like Macintosh OS X or Linux.
