Volunteer Learning

Welcome! Now that you've applied and been accepted as a volunteer, you're ready to check out the learning courses available to you. Check out the adult learning progression for volunteers who are becoming troop leaders. Only some courses are required - if you have questions, be sure to check with your service unit team, regional office or volunteer learning staff.

GSUSA Online Orientation
Learn more about volunteering with Girl Scouts and the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Getting Started
The required first course for troop leaders who have completed the application process and been accepted as volunteers. Note: Outdoor specialists should take the GSUSA Online Orientation.

Leadership Essentials
This workshop has it all! Troop management tools, understanding the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, planning quality activities with girls, measuring success, and a deep dive into Journeys!

Outdoor Leadership
For outdoor specialists, leaders and any volunteer who would like to work with girls in the outdoors.

Supporting Girls
Courses that help leaders and other volunteers working with girls support girls' development and the girl-adult partnership.

Other Roles
Learning courses to prepare volunteers for other roles, including service unit manager, service unit team member, event director, encampment director and Red Cross trainers.

Certifications
Courses that qualify participants to engage in, lead or teach the activity for which they will be certified.

Continuing Education
Course options to enrich your experience as a Girl Scout and as a volunteer.

Conferences
At conferences, workshops and sessions are offered over an entire day, a weekend or more. Many core learning courses are offered as workshops at conference events, making conferences a great way to get all your learning done in a short period of time while meeting lots of other Girl Scouts and volunteers.
