Discoveries 2011

Discover Your Possibilities!

at Renton

Event Status: Closed

DISCOVERIES is a fun-filled day where adults and girls 6th-12th grade can sample up to 3 workshops on a variety of weird and wonderful topics! Family and friends who are not Girl Scout members are welcome to enjoy the event with you. Some of the topics offered in 2010 were hip hop, beginning quilting, video game design, box oven cooking, bicycle maintenance, tie-dying, disaster preparedness, climate change, letter boxing and sushi rolling! Check back here after August 30 to see all the exciting workshops that will be offered in 2011.

Workshop Facilitators Wanted! Do you have something to share? Sure you do! Currently we’re looking for skilled & inspired individuals to facilitate 1.5-hour workshops at the 2011 event. Facilitate one or two workshops and attend the rest of the event for free! Choose to teach songs, lashing, dance, computer programming, interior design, nutrition, Journeys, etc - whatever inspires you! Your audience will be adults and/or older girls - whatever age group you feel will be a good match for your workshop. Just fill out a Workshop Form and send back to us so we can be sure to add your workshop to the schedule! Please return the form to us by August 15 (or earlier) so we can have plenty of time to fill up your class with many willing participants. Tap into your own creativity - you could surprise yourself when you Discover Your Possibilities!

Money Earning and Display Possibilities! Are your girls looking for a money earning opportunity? Come to Discoveries and join the Marketplace to raise money for your troop!" Sell pre-packaged treats (no home-made food) or homemade trinkets or crafts. Get creative about what you can offer at the Marketplace!

Are you trying to get the word out? Do you have something to say? Create a display for the Resource Alley at Discoveries. Get the community involved in your Gold Award or service project. Create a display to educate people about something exciting you have learned. Let everyone know about something that empowers or inspires you!

To tap into either of these opportunities, please complete the Marketplace Form or Resource Alley Form and send it to us before January 5 so you can Discover the Possibilities of what you believe in!
