Grace Chien is the Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Western Washington whose organizational mission is to develop girls of confidence, character, and courage who make the world a better place. Serving 26,000 girls with the support of nearly 12,000 volunteers, GSWW is known for its innovative programs to meet the needs of girls facing unique challenges through programs such as Girl Scouts Beyond Bars, serving the daughters of women incarcerated in the state’s corrections facilities, Fostering A Future serving girls in foster care, Girl Scouting in the School Day, a partnership with schools serving predominantly children in poverty, and numerous programs at low income housing facilities and communities serving girls from immigrant populations. Girl Scouts also operates six camp properties in western Washington offering year round after school, weekend, and summer camp programs.
Active in leadership roles in not-for-profit organizations, she is on the board of Seattle Rotary #4 where she serves as the Vice President of Service, serves on the board of the Washington Women’s Foundation, and the board of the Executive Alliance, an organization of non-profit executives promoting a powerful nonprofit sector. She has served as an appointee of the Governor on the Washington State Commission for National and Community Service which oversees AmeriCorps grants in the state and as a member of the State’s Children and Families of Incarcerated Parents Oversight Committee. Grace received her Bachelors in Political Science from Washington State University, her Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law, and her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Washington Evans School of Public Affairs. She is also an alum of Leadership Tomorrow and the Executive Development Institute.
Patti has been involved with Girl Scouts as a troop leader, co-chair of Totem Council’s $7.7 million capital campaign, has served on the board of Totem Council and currently serves on the board of Girl Scouts of Western Washington as the president. Her daughter is a recipient of the Gold Award, and Patti has advised other girls working on their Gold Award. Patti's civic and community work includes serving as president and board member of Northwest Children's Fund, president and board member of The Overlake School in Redmond and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Claremont McKenna College. Patti is also a member of the Washington Women’s Foundation.
