Grant Writer

Position Title: Grant Writer
Location: DuPont
Pay: $36,326+ DOE 
FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-time

Position Summary: Develop, implement and manage a Council wide grant funding program.  Responsible for researching, writing and building relationships with current and potential funders, including United Way.   

Essential Functions:

60%  Write, edit and prepare grant applications and proposals to various funding sources including corporations, foundations, government entities and United Ways.
10%  Develop, implement and manage a cross departmental grant tracking system to ensure open communication, timely reporting and donation stewardship. 
10% Identify, research, prioritize and make recommendations for grant funding opportunities that support council wide programs and initiatives (including in-kind opportunities). 
10%  Coordinate all United Way activities. 
5% Assist Vice President of Fund Development in developing a yearly grant plan and grant budget. 
3% Provide ongoing database updates to assure that the information on current and prospective corporate, foundation and government grants or funding is accurate and complete allowing for full understanding of Council contacts.   
2%  Participate on behalf of Girl Scouts of Western Washington in community activities and organizations. 

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degreed in related field or equivalent education and work experience required with at least three years of experience in grant writing or progressively responsible experience in Fund Development
  • Demonstrated record of successful grant writing preferably in the western Washington region
  • Excellent public speaking and writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective interactions with individuals at all levels and backgrounds
  • Experience in development and administration of budgets and work plans
  • Availability to work varied hours, including nights and weekends as necessary
  • Skilled in Outlook, Word, and Excel. Donor Perfect experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative and maintain confidentiality
  • Valid Washington State drivers license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, or the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across widespread regional geography
  • Satisfactory results from criminal background search
  • Maintain membership in Girl Scouts
